Hookl und Stool 2014 Armada High Armchair

As a part of its ongoing pursuit of the perfect furnishings, Belgrade-based design studio Hookl und Stool commissioned designer Zoran Jedrejcic to create the Armada High Armchair. Perfectly minimalist, the chair uses a single piece of steel to construct the frame, which is covered by luxurious leather that softens over time. This lends the chair a distinct vintage feel while also maintaining a versatile modern appearance. A unique magnet system connects the solid wooden base to the seating, giving it a unique sense of suspension. Head to Hookl und Stool’s website to learn more about bringing this piece home.

Mustang Wanted Stars in Klangkarussell’s “Netzwerk (Falls Like Rain)”

One part parkour, one part rock climbing, Ukrainian daredevil Mustang Wanted‘s stunt work is not for the faint of heart.  The climber’s talents take center stage in the latest music video from Austrian duo Klangkarussel, produced for a new rendition of their “Netzwerk (Falls Like Rain)” single.  As the background vocals soar above the tensely subdued synth work, Mustang Wanted climbs high above Belgrade, Serbia – the combination of which makes for amazing visuals.

Patagonia Bowery Surf Shop in NYC Video

Recently Patagonia launched its first surf shop at the heart of the Bowery in New York City.  Welcoming them to the East Coast, surf-centric blog Indoek hung out with the employees to learn more about the label’s aesthetics.  In just over five minutes, we’re treated to a look at the new storefront and its utilitarian, environmentally-friendly designs before a trip to the coast and a rooftop camping session.  Directed by Drew Innis and narrated by Patagonia NYC shop manager DL Tashjian, the short reinforces Patagonia’s adventurous lifestyle for the outdoors.  If you happen to be in the area, be sure to pay the store a visit.

Philips Urban Beehive Concept

Philips has shed light on an ingenious and aesthetically pleasing concept aimed at those seeking to harvest their own honey.  Separated in to two parts — a wall mounted outdoor flower pot holder with an entry point and a connected indoor glass shell that houses honeycomb frames –, this contraption allows for a scaled down beehive to be installed right in the living room. For those urban dwellers interested in trying their hand at beekeeping without the cumbersome gear, this concept allows you to do so in a mess- and pain-free manner.  Simply pull the actuator draw chain and watch homemade honey ooze from the container, while the bees rest calmly sedated.

Transworld Skateboarding Checks Out Brandon Nguyen

Quick feet and technical head-scratchers at spots seem the hallmark qualities of San Jose, California’s skateboarding scene, underlined and dotted in any one of Mark Suciu’s recent parts.  Carrying the torch for the city is Brandon Nguyen, who grasshopped his way onto Transworld‘s radar for a video version of its “Check Out” segment.  The surprising wallie to grind around the minute mark seems just short of impossible, while Nguyen also reminds viewers that the backside 360 and nose-popped bigspins are far from obsolete.  Enjoy the video above.

Entitled G I R L, the 10-track LP is set to include the Despicable Me 2 single “Happy” and will be just the second proper solo album from Pharrell and the first since 2006′s In My Mind. Check out the announcement trailer above and look for G I R L to be available March 3. The album is now available to pre-order via iTunes.

AKAHIROMIYASHITATheSoloIst. 2014 Spring/Summer Video

Influential Japanese label TAKAHIROMIYASHITATheSoloist. introduces its Spring/Summer 2014 collection with a new video.  Showcasing the talents of the lead designer, Takahiro Miyashita composed and performed the soundtrack for this sartorial visual.  The video initially sets a solemn tone for the range of draping casual garments, yet quickly shifts into a higher gear as it explores the collection.  Notably, the video is also executed in greyscale to emphasize dramatics.  Enjoy this look at TAKAHIROMITASHITATheSoloist.’s Spring/Summer 2014 video, viewable above.

KAWS “Play Your Part” @ Galeria Javier Lopez

KAWS kicks off 2014 with a brand new exhibition at Madrid’s Galeria Javier Lopez. Entitled “Play Your Part,” the new display is decidedly more intimate and smaller in scale than the Brooklyn artist’s recent stints at New York’s Mary Boone Gallery, Johnson County Community College’s Nerman Museum of Contemporary Art, and the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts. Instead, the installation follows the likes of Todd James‘s “Business As Usual” showcase at the Spanish gallery last year, eschewing sculpture in favor of a focus on a select few paintings. “Play Your Part” opened today, February 20 and will remain on display through April 23.
